Detailed Analysis of CAT 2016 along with “Form to be Filled on the basis of your expected score”

CAT 2016 had 3 sections:

1. Verbal Ability (34 questions - 60 Minutes)
   
        a) Verbal Ability (10 questions)
            b) Reading Comprehension (24 questions)
2. Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (32 questions -60 Minutes)
            a) 8 Set of 4 Questions each
3. Quantitative Ability (34 questions - 60 Minutes)

The paper was in the same order as mentioned. You could not switch between the sections.
The sectional, in depth analysis is as follows:


1. VA/RC section: (Khush to bahut hoge isko Dekhkar)

                RCs had 24 questions. RCs were 5 in number; 3 RCs with 6 questions each & 2 RCs with 3 questions each. Out of the 24 RC questions, around 14 questions were direct. All in all, the RCs in terms of intensity of language, depth or density were easy but slightly time consuming. All the RC questions were multiple choice questions with 1/3 negative marks.
            Verbal Ability had just 3 types:
                             a) Out of Context question (3 in number)
                             b) Summary of the passage (3 in number)
                             c) Parajumbles (4 in number).
            All the questions of these three types were of the non-MCQ type with no negative marks. So, Parajumbles were difficult because each of the parajumbles had 5 sentences to be rearranged and it can be done in 5! or 120 ways. But nevertheless, you could take a shot.

            No Questions based upon Vocabulary, Grammar, Logical Continuation & Critical Reasoning were asked.
All in all, the section was Easy to Average.
    25+ net correct questions should be in the range of 98%ile.
    20+ net correct questions should be in the range of 95%ile.
    17+ net correct questions should be in the range of 90%ile.


2. LRDI section: (Rona Aajayega Bas)

                The paper had 8 sets of 4 questions each. This section was surely the decider with 5 DI sets and 3 LR sets and Nearly all the sets were time consuming. You could not decide which one would be easier or which one would be tougher. Though 2-3 sets are less time consuming but it was extremely difficult to find these sets. The over all process to solve sets was tricky.
            All in all, the section was Difficult to Extreme.
    13+ net correct questions should be in the range of 98%ile.
    10+ net correct questions should be in the range of 95%ile.
    7+ net correct questions should be in the range of 90%ile.


3. QA Section: (Kar to jaunga.. Cheer worthy section to all)

                Nearly every chapter had a representative there. A well balanced paper with one third easy, half average and 3-4 tough ones. The spread of Questions was really good.

    Arithmetic (11-12 Questions) Easy to Average
    Number System (5-6 Questions) Easy to Average
    Geometry (6 Questions) Average to Difficult
    Algebra (7-8 Questions) Easy to Average to Difficult
    P&C (2-3 Questions) Average

            All in all, the section was Average.
    20+ net correct questions should be in the range of 98%ile.
    16+ net correct questions should be in the range of 95%ile.
    12+ net correct questions should be in the range of 90%ile.


            Finally Overall:
    48+ net correct questions should be in the range of 99%ile.
    44+ net correct questions should be in the range of 98%ile.
    40+ net correct questions should be in the range of 96%ile.
    35+ net correct questions should be in the range of 92%ile.
    28+ net correct questions should be in the range of 85%ile.

Fill any 3-4 forms out of ( LBS, FMS-BHU, Fore, Nirma, Tapmi, UBS, K J Somya, MDI Murshidabad, XISS, LIBA)
Fill 1-2 forms out of (XIMB, IMT, IMI, DSE, MFC/MBE, MICA,GIM)


Expected 30 to 40 Correct:
Fill 3-4 forms out of (XIMB, IMT, IMI, DSE, MFC/MBE, MICA, MDI HR, Great Lakes 1 year)
Fill any 3-4 forms out of ( GIM, LBS, FMS-BHU, Fore, Nirma, Tapmi, UBS, K J Somya, MDI Murshidabad, XISS, LIBA)


Expected 35 to 45 Correct:
Fill 2-3 Forms out of (MDI, NITIE, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, SP Jain)
Fill 3-4 forms out of (XIMB, IMT, IMI, DSE, MFC/MBE, MICA, MDI HR, Great Lakes 1 year)
Fill any 1-2 forms out of ( GIM, LBS, FMS-BHU, Fore, Nirma, Tapmi, UBS, K J Somya, MDI Murshidabad, XISS, LIBA)


Expected 40 to 50 Correct:
Fill 4-5 Forms out of (FMS Delhi, MDI, NITIE, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, SP Jain,
Fill 2-3 forms out of (XIMB, IMT, IMI, DSE, MFC/MBE, MICA, MDI HR, Great Lakes 1 year)
